FAQ

Short answers to common questions about Nixt Mail — cost, privacy, which accounts work, AI, offline mail, and getting help.

Is Nixt Mail free?

Yes, at its basic level, for good. What more you can use depends on your edition and licence; AI, for example, needs a licence that includes it. See Licence and updates.

Does my mail go through your servers?

No. Your mail goes straight between Nixt Mail and your provider, in every edition. Nixt Mail collects no analytics, telemetry or crash reports. See Privacy and security.

Which email accounts work?

Gmail and Outlook, by signing in on Google’s or Microsoft’s own page; iCloud and Yahoo, with an app password; any other provider that offers IMAP and SMTP; and JMAP servers such as Nixt DNA Server. See Accounts.

Can I use several accounts?

Yes. Once two are connected, All inboxes shows every inbox in one list. See Several accounts.

Do I have to use AI?

No. AI is off until you set it up, and nothing is sent to a model until you have read where it goes and agreed. See AI overview.

Can I read mail without an internet connection?

Yes, once you turn on offline mail. It is off until you do; the copy it keeps is encrypted and never sent anywhere. See Offline mail.

What does it run on?

See Install Nixt Mail.

Which version do I have?

On a Mac, choose Nixt Mail › About Nixt Mail. Settings › Updates shows it too.

Where are the keyboard shortcuts?

On Keyboard shortcuts, and in the app under Help › Keyboard Shortcuts.

Something is not working. Where do I get help?

Start with Troubleshooting. The Community page says where to ask.
