Your mailbox never touches our servers.

Nixt Mail is a fast, keyboard-first email client whose AI runs wherever you tell it to — a hosted region, your own server, or entirely on your own machine.

Custody

We are not able to read your mail.

Every other AI email client copies your mailbox onto its servers, because server-side indexing is what makes the AI work. Nixt Mail took the harder route: the mail goes from your machine to your provider and nowhere else.

01

No copy of your mailbox exists on our servers.

Nixt Mail speaks IMAP and SMTP straight from your machine to your provider. The code refuses to be configured otherwise, and a test enforces it.

02

Nothing is written to disk.

No message body, no subject, no attachment is cached on the device. Covered by privacy_test.

03

No remote resource is ever fetched.

Tracking pixels do not load, because the request never happens.

04

Credentials live in the OS keychain.

Pinned to the device, never synced, never readable back by the interface.

05

No analytics. No crash reporting. No search history.

Settings has an on-screen list of everything the app holds, and one button that erases all of it.

The claim, in full

No copy of your mailbox ever exists on our servers.

We are not able to read your mail — not because we promise not to, but because we never receive it.

Where things run

You decide, one capability at a time.

Search here, AI there, shared inboxes somewhere else. Every capability is placed independently — on this device, on a server you control, or in a region you name. No other email client offers this at all. Half-configured capabilities send nothing; they never quietly fall back to the cloud.

Nothing leaves your machine

Point AI at a local model — Ollama or LM Studio on http://localhost:11434 — and Nixt Mail reports, correctly, that nothing leaves the device. Because nothing does. Run a packet capture and check.

What it does

Seconds in your inbox, not minutes.

Nixt Mail triages, summarizes and drafts so that reading mail becomes deciding things. It never sends, archives or replies on its own.

Triage by decision, not by summary

Mail arrives sorted into what needs a decision from you, what you are waiting on, and what is only for information.

Needs reply 5 Awaiting reply 1 FYI 12

Summaries that end in a decision

Every thread summary closes with the choice in front of you — not a paragraph restating what you could already see.

Legal accepted the indemnity cap. Exclusivity is the only open item — they want 12 months, we offered 6. Action: approve 6-month exclusivity, or counter at 9 months.

Replies written the way you write

Suggested replies are phrased as if you said them, short and ready to send. Nothing is sent without you pressing send.

Approve 6-month exclusivity Let’s counter at 9 months

Search that takes a question

Press ⌘K and ask in a sentence. The index is built on your machine, so the question never travels anywhere.

What did Dana say about exclusivity? ⌘K

A shared inbox that never holds the mail

Assignment, internal notes and presence for your team. The server stores a keyed hash of the message ID — never the message, subject or recipients.

Internal — never sent Lena Park — Finance is fine with 9 months. Don’t go past that.

Your AI. Your key. No limits.

Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint including Ollama and LM Studio. Never metered, never marked up, never proxied through us.

Speed

Built for people who live in the inbox.

Every action has a key. The command palette answers in a keystroke, nothing animates for longer than 0.22s, and the window never waits on a network round trip to feel responsive.

Platforms

Native on every screen you use.

One Flutter codebase, five real applications. Linux is not an afterthought here — it is the only AI email client that has one — and the phone is the same client, redrawn for a thumb, not a companion app.

Traffic lights, Keychain, notarized.

macOS

Universal build for Apple silicon and Intel. Keychain-backed, notarized.

Windows

Native window chrome, Credential Manager for secrets, the same three-pane layout.

Built · verification in progress

Linux

A first-class desktop build, not a wrapper. No other AI email client ships one at all.

Built · verification in progress

iOS

The same codebase on iPhone. Credentials in the Keychain, pinned to the device; Face ID app lock.

Builds and runs · unreleased

Android

Material chrome over the same core, secrets in the Android Keystore, biometric app lock.

How it compares

The part nobody else can copy.

Server-side indexing is not laziness on their part — it is their product. Undoing it would mean rebuilding the thing their AI runs on.

There is nothing to import. Nixt Mail reads the account you already have, so switching is one sign-in — and switching back is uninstalling.

Where the build is

What works today, and what does not.

Nixt Mail is in beta and this list is the honest version of it. It is kept in the repository and updated in the same commit as the code.

Working now

Real mail end to end — connect, read, thread, search, attach, send, reply, archive, delete, undo
Credentials in the OS keychain, pinned to the device
The deployment plane — per-capability placement, 27 tests
Design system and WCAG 2.1 AA conformance
App lock, and erase-everything-on-this-device

Not finished yet

The AI engine — the plumbing and the interface exist; the backend does not yet
HTML message rendering — bodies currently show as text
Desktop notifications — the app updates while it is open
The collaboration server — the client and contract are written and tested
Google and Microsoft OAuth registration
iOS and Android builds run, but neither is released yet

Questions

The things people ask first.

Does Nixt Mail host my email?

No. Nixt Mail is a client, not a mail service. You keep the account you already have — Gmail, Outlook, Fastmail, or any standard IMAP and SMTP server — and Nixt Mail connects to it directly from your machine.

If AI runs on my machine, what does it cost?

Nothing extra. Nixt Mail has no AI markup and no usage meter, because Nixt Mail is not the one paying for inference. You bring an API key, or you point it at a model running locally and pay nobody.

Is “we cannot read your mail” a promise or a fact?

A fact about the architecture. There is no path in the code that sends message content to a Nixt Server, and a test fails if one is added. One honest caveat: if you configure AI against a hosted endpoint, that message’s content travels to that endpoint — to your provider, on your key, not to us. With a local model, nothing leaves the machine at all.

What happens if I stop paying?

Nothing breaks. After twelve consecutive months on an annual plan, Nixt Mail keeps working forever at the version available when your subscription started. An email client that bricks itself is not something we are willing to ship.

Which AI providers are supported?

Anthropic, OpenAI and Azure OpenAI, plus any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — Ollama and LM Studio included. Keys are entered locally, stored in the OS keychain, and never sent to us. Nixt Mail also links you to your provider’s spend-limit page during setup.

How hard is it to cancel?

Two clicks from your account page, or at /cancel without logging in at all — you need an order number and an email address. We will never ask you to phone, email or chat with anyone to cancel, because there is no retention team. Annual plans and perpetual licences carry a 30-day money-back guarantee, monthly plans 14 days, and we refund without asking why.

Can I self-host the team features?

Yes. The collaboration server is designed to run on your own infrastructure, and the sovereign plan includes the deployment guide, a support SLA and a VPAT.
