FAQ
Short answers to common questions about Nixt Sheets — cost, accounts, files and compatibility, exporting, and getting help.
Is it free?
Yes. Nixt Sheets is free, for good, with nothing locked behind a payment.
Do I need an account to open a file?
No. Nixt Sheets works on the file on your computer. You don’t need an account to open a file, nothing is synced, and the app sends no telemetry.
Which files does it open?
Excel workbooks (.xlsx), and .xlsm, .xltx, .xltm, .csv and .tsv files. See File formats and compatibility.
Will my file still work in Microsoft Excel?
Yes. Nixt Sheets is built so that a file you open is still the same Excel file when you save it: the parts it does not edit are written back unchanged. See File formats and compatibility.
Does it run macros?
No. Macros in .xlsm and .xltm workbooks are never run. When you save, the macro project is written back unchanged. See File formats and compatibility.
What happens if I open a Word document, a presentation or a PDF?
Nixt Sheets tells you which Nixt Office app opens it: Nixt Writer, Nixt Slides or Nixt PDF.
Can I save as PDF or another format?
Yes: as PDF, CSV, TSV or HTML. See Printing and exporting.
Where are the keyboard shortcuts?
