The Nixt Office community includes people with different backgrounds, languages, abilities and levels of experience. We want every one of them to be able to ask a question, share an idea or report a problem without being made to feel small. This code applies everywhere the community meets, and to everyone in it, including the people at Nixt Atlantic.
What we expect
- Be kind and patient. Everyone was new once. Answer the question that was asked.
- Be respectful when you disagree. Criticise ideas and code, never people.
- Assume good intent, and ask before you assume the worst.
- Stay on topic, and keep a thread useful to the next person who finds it.
- Protect privacy. Never post anyone’s mail, address, password, key or licence file, including your own.
What is not acceptable
- Harassment, threats, insults or personal attacks, in public or in private.
- Discriminatory jokes or language about anyone’s race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or appearance.
- Sexual language or imagery, and unwelcome attention.
- Sharing somebody’s private information without their permission.
- Spam, advertising and repeated off-topic posts.
- Publishing a security issue before it is fixed. Report it privately instead.
Reporting a problem
If someone’s behaviour breaks this code, write to hello@nixtoffice.com with “Code of conduct” in the subject. Say what happened, where and when, and include links or copies if you have them. We keep reports confidential. If the report is about somebody at Nixt Atlantic, someone else there handles it.
What we do
We read every report and decide what to do based on what happened. That can be a private word, a public reminder of this code, removing posts, or removing someone from the community for a time or for good. We tell the person who reported it what we did, where we can.
